Travel Medicine qualifications explained:
The internationally-recognised qualification in Travel Medicine is the 'Certificate in Travel Health' exam of the International Society of Travel Medicine' (ISTM). This exam is held annually. Those in Ireland who hold this exam are listed on the ISTM website (click on 'Global Travel Clinic Search'). The next level in competence assessment is the Membership exam of the Faculty of Travel Medicine at Glasgow's Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons (MFTM RCPS Glasg). After this, 'Fellowship' (FFTM RCPS Glasg) is conferred by the College on Members who have made a 'substantial contribution to their specialty'.
